Captain Matthew’s Adventures

Grade 1

I add this piece to Piano Tunes with a good deal of emotion. I’ve now fulfilled my aim, of adding a new piece every weekday for one whole year. Also, it’s my 50th birthday today. In the past few months, Piano Tunes has raised over £1400 for Cancer Research UK, thanks to the generosity of many users, friends and family. I decided to make today’s piece extra special, for a special little boy. A suite of pieces, with artwork by myself – I’ve been teaching myself to draw on my iPad with an Apple Pencil – still lots to learn!

And so it’s with this piece that I now take a break from Piano Tunes. I have so many ideas and plans for this site, and I will reveal more over the coming weeks. But there will be no new music until September. There are over 250 pieces on this site, and all of them will be available over the summer – have an explore! Remember you can search categories, to find the pieces at the right level for you or your students. And you can still donate to Cancer Research UK – any donations of £20 or more will be rewarded with a bespoke commission, which I will write straight away and publish here in September. My parting request is…please let me know what you think of Piano Tunes, and let me know what you’d like to see more of from September. This site takes up a huge part of my life, and it’s all for you, so please give me some feedback! Take care, have a wonderful summer, and check back from time to time to catch up on some exciting news.

Best wishes,

Martin

What a lovely suite of pieces for a special little boy. I loved listening to the music and seeing your rather excellent artwork! On your special birthday, can I thank you for all your wonderful music and congratulations for the money you have raised for Cancer Research. You have been an inspiration and I shall so miss logging on every morning to see what piece you have uploaded and whether it was something I could manage. I know I won’t be the only one who will keep watching and will look forward to September. In the meantime, enjoy your break from Piano Tunes. Who knows, by the time you return I might have even mastered Pink Jenny, albeit rather slowly! xxxx
