Winter Solstice
Today's piece was kindly sponsored by Jo May, in memory of her late sister, on the occasion of what would have been her 50th birthday.

I’ve written today’s piece for a very special friend, who reaches a milestone birthday tomorrow. I could say so much, but I’ll limit myself to this: ‘Ha, ha, Sue, my goodness you’re old!’
To play the piece well, great care needs to be taken over the quavers, which often repeat the main melody note or even go above the melody, but should always be played softer, so as to not outshine the melody.
