The title is, of course, ironic, as there are many, many ties in this piece. It’s a good exercise in counting if nothing else! As a singer I would imagine actually getting louder through the tied notes. On the piano this isn’t possible, but if you have that thought in your head, it can really help to hold the notes for their full value.
